Northbridge home at one with the bush

Morning in the Bush
Amongst the gnarly apple-trees, a gorgeous
tribe of parrots came;
And screaming, leapt from bough to bough,
like living jets of crimson flame!
And where the hillside-growing gums;
their web-like foliage upward threw,
Old Nature rang with echoes from;
the loud-voiced mountain cockatoo;
And a thousand nameless twittering things, between the rustling sapling sprays,
Were flashing through the fragrant leaves,
and dancing like to fabled fays.

Henry Kendall 1841-1882

Northbridge home a poetic inspiration
Australia's bushland has long been a source of inspiration for many of Australia's renowned poets and artists. And when you stand on one of the many terraces of this unique Northbridge home and survey the dramatic terrain, you realise why our bush makes the perfect muse.

Perched high on an escarpment overlooking spectacular Keep Reserve and across to Sailors Bay, the home stands tall like an elegant Chateau. Stepping down over four levels, it has been designed in relation to neighbouring properties, the topography and microclimate, maximising views and cross breezes and ensuring privacy.
One of the most striking aspects of the home is the way it truly melds with its surrounds. Architect Michael Avramides has perfectly fulfilled the brief - to 'put the home in the bush'. From the two-and-a-half storeys of glass in the marble-tiled foyer, spacious balconies off bedrooms and living areas, expansive windows, to the atrium-style family/meals room - all take advantage of the panoramic views.

Beyond the Tuscan-influenced façade, there is another world to discover - from the moment you enter. The magnificent foyer, stone courtyard with fountain, curved staircase, exceptional entertaining areas, enormous separate laundry, superb bedrooms and bathrooms - all combine to make this an enchanting home.

Everything has been lovingly created - from the intricately designed wrought iron balustrades and light fittings, imported Italian tiles in all bathrooms and the foyer, terracotta tiled balconies, hand-made timber shutters and nautically-inspired cedar windows, 'wash' paint scheme, lime-ash timber cupboards and kitchen/family room floor and vaulted ceiling, quality wool carpeting, ceiling fans, UV protection on windows and skylights, 'disappearing' flyscreens, the list goes on.

Specific emphasis has been placed on the entertaining areas. Enjoy cocktails in the formal lounge room complete with hide-away wet bar, or move out onto the adjoining terrace - gaze at the views. For a relaxed meal, the covered tiled barbecue area with in-built gas barbecue, sink, dishwasher and fridge is perfect.
The open plan, island-style kitchen features highest-quality stainless steel appliances, hot and cold filtered water and masses of cupboard space. Flowing onto the family room, this area has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere.

If you prefer to 'escape' from the world, there are many retreats. The master bedroom is the only room on the upper level and opens due North onto a spacious covered balcony. It even features 'his and hers' dressing rooms and ensuites - ideal for couples with different 'styles'!
The second bedroom on the ground floor is another retreat, also with its own large covered balcony. It features built-in wardrobe and ensuite with spa bath looking out a 'porthole' onto established ferns. The third bedroom opens onto the home's largest terrace, while the private study/fourth bedroom is the ideal place to work quietly.

On the lower level is a self-contained studio apartment with bathroom and kitchenette. Nestled among the ferns and with private entry, it is ideal for guests, short or long term. Teenagers or in-laws could also be accommodated long term in real style.

A sound-proofed gym area opening onto the lawn even features ceiling-mounted television. There is also a generous sandstone wine cellar and workshop area. A three car, tiled garage with ample storage and fourth, covered car portico combine with extra space for off street guest parking to complete the package.

Technologically, this home is cutting edge. It is completely wireless enabling laptop use throughout the house; the television in master bedroom is 'hidden' in the ceiling and operated by remote control; there's cabling throughout; computer controlled lighting and surround-sound systems; video intercom; extensive security systems; a PABX phone system; and separate reverse cycle air-conditioning systems for different zones.

Historical Northbridge Baths and Northbridge Golf Course nearby enhance the Village atmosphere, yet Sydney CBD is only a 7 minute drive, the airport just 15 minutes away. Northbridge is one of the most sought after Sydney suburbs for good reason with tremendous lifestyle investment potential.
This home is a timeless classic - and ideal for the lock-and-leave executive. Sit on the balconies, listen to the birds, drink in the views and, perhaps, write your own poetry.
